Mount Vernon, GA - The Knights were back in Mount Vernon, Georgia on Friday, April 26th as they finished up the series against Brewton-Parker College and capped off the regular season. The Knights defeated the Barons in the first game of the series and were looking to take two more.
Game One
The first game of the day would see lots of fireworks and scoring. The Barons would start off the game scoring three runs in the first inning but the Knights would answer back in the second inning with five runs coming on a sacrifice fly by
Hunter Noblitt, an RBI single by
Chaz Salter, and a three-run home run by
Jaiden Duarte. After the Barons would re-take the lead in the bottom half of the second inning, the Knights would score another five runs in the third inning with a solo home run by
Yariel Diaz, a wild pitch by the Barons, a sacrifice fly by
Hunter Noblitt, and a two-run home run by
Jaiden Duarte as the Knights would take a 10-6 lead. The Barons would score two runs in the bottom half of the third inning, but the Knights would have another answer for the Barons as they would score seven runs in the fourth inning and hold a 17-8 lead. The Barons would score one run in the fourth and fifth innings to close the gap but the Knights would score two more runs in the sixth inning on a
Jaiden Duarte two-run home run. The Knights would give up two more runs in the bottom half of the inning but would hold on for the 19-12 victory.
Game Two
The final game of the series would not go the way of the Knights as the Barons would score six runs in the first inning. The Knights close the gap with a two-run home run in the second inning by
Adam Alicea-Brooks and a three-run home run by
Ryan Wilson in the third inning as they would trail 6-5. The Barons would put the game out of reach with three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning as the Knights would trail 13-5. The Knights would get a run back in the sixth inning on a wild pitch but the deficit would be too much to overcome as the Knights would lose 16-6.
The Knights finish the regular season with a record of 24-23, 15-15 SSAC as they hold the 6-seed for the upcoming SSAC Tournament. The tournament runs from May 1st through May 4th and is held in Jackson, Tennessee.
