Knights Take Game One in SSAC Tournament

Box Score Jackson, TN – The Knights were in Jackson, Tennessee on Wednesday, May 1st as they were set to battle the Skyhawks of Point University in the first game of the SSAC Tournament. The Knights were the 6-seed in the tournament while the Skyhawks were the 3-seed.
 
The Knights would get things started in the first inning after a walk by Jacob Pierce and a single by Ryan Wilson would set up Zane Faulk for an RBI single to give the Knights an early lead. After a passed ball would allow the runners to advance, an RBI groundout by JT Rice would extend the lead to 2-0 after the first half of the inning. The Skyhawks would answer back with two runs to tie the game at 2-2. The Knights would take the lead back in the second inning a Jaiden Duarte double would set up Chaz Salter for an RBI single and Jacob Pierce would hit an RBI double as the Knights would take a 4-2 lead. The Knights would add on another run in the third inning after loading the bases for a sacrifice fly from Yadiel Perez and the Knights would take a 5-2 lead. After giving up two runs in the fourth inning, the Knights would get one run back in the top of the fifth inning after hitting into a fielder's choice and a throwing error by the Skyhawks would allow a run to score to give the Knights a 6-4 lead. The Knights would continue to add on runs in the sixth inning as they would add one run on an RBI double by Ryan Wilson to take a 7-4 lead. The Knights would score three more runs in the seventh inning on an RBI triple by Brennon Williams, an RBI double by Yadiel Perez, and an RBI single by Chaz Salter to give the Knights a 10-4 lead. The Knights would finish off their scoring with one run in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Yariel Diaz and four runs in the ninth inning on two-run home runs by Jaiden Duarte and Ryan Wilson as the Knights would win the game 15-4. Evan Boyle would get the win after pitching four innings of relief out of the bullpen.
 
The Knights will be back in action on Thursday, May 2nd as they take on the 2-seed Crusaders of William Carey University. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM CST.
