Indianapolis, IN - The Knights were back on familiar ground as they were in Indianapolis, Indiana for the second straight year for the NAIA Opening Round at Marian University. The Knights were the 3-seed in the bracket and were set to take on the 2-seed Raiders of Southern Oregon.
The Knights would get a runner on base in the first inning with a single by
Taylor Layne but a double play would end the inning and the threat. The Knights and Raiders would be locked in a defensive battle as neither team would be able to push any runs across the plate until the Raiders would score one run in the fourth inning. The Knights would have their best chances in the sixth and seventh innings as they would put runners on second and third in both innings but defense would prevail as the Knights would take a tough 1-0 loss.
Taylor Layne would go 3-for-3 in the game and
Beth Eddins would throw a complete game, allowing six hits and one walk.
The Knights will move to the loser's bracket where they will take on the 4-seed Saints of Aquinas College. That game will take place on Tuesday, May 14th with the first pitch scheduled for 1:30 PM EST.
