Game Recap: Softball |

Softball Splits in Day Two of SSAC Tournament

Decatur, AL - The Knights were back in action on Friday, May 3rd as they were set to take on the 2-seeded Rams of the University of Mobile on the second day of the SSAC Tournament. The Knights were looking to stay in the winners bracket as that would result in less games to be played.

Game One

The Knights would get off to a hot start in the first inning as Taylor Layne would draw a walk and set up Alexis Cosgrove to hit a two-run home run to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. The Knights pitching would hold strong until the fifth inning when the Knights would surrender a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings as the game would be tied 2-2. The game would head into extra innings and the Knights would walk the game off in the ninth inning after a lead off triple by Summer Lawrence and a sacrifice fly by Carmen Phillips would give the Knights a 3-2 win.

The win would set the Knights up with a game against the 1-seeded Crusaders of William Carey University and only one win away from the Championship game.

Game Two

The Knights would have a tough time getting things going on offense as the Crusaders would show why they were the top team in the SSAC. The Knights would amass only two hits and leave four runners on base. The Knights would give up three runs throughout the game. Emily Proctor would record six strikeouts.

The Knights fall into the loser's bracket and will play the 5-seeded Tigers of Stillman College. First pitch is scheduled for 11 AM CST.
