Box Score 2 Decatur, AL - The Knights were back in action on Saturday, May 4th as they played on the final day of the SSAC Tournament. The Knights were set to face the 5-seeded Tigers of Stillman College with a rematch against William Carey looming.
Game One
The Knights and Tigers would get off to a balanced start as both teams looked to be equally matched. The Tigers would score first as they would score one run in the third inning. The Knights would answer back in the fourth inning with an RBI single on a bunt by
Emily Proctor and would score another run on an error by the Tigers as they would take a 2-1 lead. It would be all the runs the Knights would need as they would win the game 2-1.
Madisyn Riggins would pitch the complete game, allowing two hits and striking out two batters.
Game Two
The Knights would get the rematch against the Crusaders as they would have to beat them twice to win the tournament. The Knights would start off the game hot as they would score three runs in the first inning on a fielder's choice, a sacrifice fly by
Madisyn Riggins, and an RBI single by
Georgia Bice to give the Knights a 3-0 lead. The bats would cool off after the first inning as the Crusaders would show why they were the top team in the conference as they would score two runs in the second inning and five runs in the fifth inning. The Knights would be unable to reignite the bats as they would lose the game 7-3.
The Knights finish as the tournament runner-up and lock themselves into the NAIA Opening Round. They will wait to see where they will be placed on Tuesday, May 7th at 5 PM EST.
