Knights Win Home Opener Against Tigers

Macon, GA - The Knights were on their home court for the first time this season as they hosted the Tigers of Savannah State University. The Knights were looking to get their second win of the season and open their home schedule on a positive note.

The Knights would start off the match looking to prove they were the better team as they would score 11 of the first 14 points. The Tigers would mount a comeback as they would close the lead and eventually tie the set at 18-18. The Knights would fight back as the set would be hard fought and the Knights would take the set 26-24. The second set of the match would start off well for the Knights as they would win the first two points but the Tigers would fight back and a seven point run in the set would give the Tigers the lead and the Knights would lose the set 25-19. The third set would be much of the same story as the second set with the Knights taking an early lead but the Tigers would regain the lead and pull away as the Knights would lose the set 25-18. The Knights would be up against the ropes as they would have to win the fourth and fifth sets if they wanted to take the match. The fourth set would start off a back and forth battle until the Knights would take control in the middle of the set and pull away to win 25-19. The fifth set would be all about the Knights as they would get out to a 9-1 lead and win the set 15-6 to win the match. Yanelis Rodriguez led the Knights with 13 kills while Graysen Lallier added 12 kills, Beau Houston led with 23 assists with Ellie Johnson adding 19 assists, and Paige Collier led with 29 digs.

The Knights will hit the road on Friday, September 13th as they travel to West Point, Georgia to begin their SSAC schedule with a match against the Skyhawks of Point University. That match is set to tip off at 6 PM EST.
