Cochran, GA - The Knights were on the court on Tuesday, January 14th after a ten day layoff as they hosted the Eagles of Fualkner University. The Knights previously played the Eagles on the road in a non-conference game in a hard fought battle and the same was expected.
The Knights scored the first basket of the game and the score was close to start the first half. The Eagles took control of the game as they would take the lead and slowly start to pull away from the Knights. The deficit for the Knights grew to 11 points in the first half with 7:48 remaining but the Knights started to fight back late in the half and found themselves down by two points with 1:30 remaining in the half. The half closed out with the Knights facing a 37-33 deficit at halftime. The Knights deficit would grow again in the second half with the Eagles up by 13 points with 14:52 remaining in the game. The Knights started to eat into the lead again as they fought back to tie the game at 58-58 with 3:39 remaining. The Knights grabbed the lead and led by four points with 33 seconds left with the Eagles trying to make a comeback. The Knights missed two free throws late with a one point lead as the Eagles missed a jump shot at the buzzer and the Knights got the 68-67 win.
Milique Smith led the Knights with 18 points and eight rebounds as
Jamal Taylor and
Bryce Turner each adding 12 points and
Nick Cham added 11 points off the bench.
The Knights will have a quick turnaround as they travel to Mobile, Alabama to take on the Rams of the University of Mobile on Thursday, January 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM CST.
