Cochran, GA - After a month long layoff due to the holiday break, the Knights were back in action on Saturday, January 4th as they hosted the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were looking to get back in the win column to get the second half of the season started off on a positive note.
The Knights would score the first basket of the game and take a 3-0 lead. The Barons would fight back and grab the lead but the Knights would hold the lead for most of the first half until the Barons would make a basket in the final seconds of the first quarter as the Knights would trail 16-15. The second quarter would not be favorable to the Knights as they would score one point in the first 6:30 of the quarter but they would start to find their shooting touch late as they would score nine points in the final 3:30 of the quarter and would trail 35-25 at the halftime break. The Knights would cut into the lead in the third quarter, getting within six points, but the Barons would expand their lead with the Knights trailing by 14 points at the end of the third quarter. The deficit for the Knights would grow to 18 points but they would cut the lead down to 10 points with 3:43 remaining in the game. The Knights would come up short as they would lose 80-68.
Keiane' Rollins led the Knights with 20 points and eight rebounds with
ZaKyria Johnson adding 14 points and
India Johnson adding 12 points.
The Knights will be back on the court on Tuesday, January 7th when they host the Wildcats of NCAA D-II Fort Valley State University. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
