Cochran, GA - The Knights got back on the court on Tuesday, January 7th when they hosted the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University. The Knights looked to get an idea of where they stacked up against NCAA Division II competition to find out where to build for next season.
The Wildcats started the game scoring the first four points of the game but the Knights came back to tied the game at 7-7. The first quarter remained close with each team trading the lead as the score would be 181-18 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter was all about the Wildcats as they would score the first seven points of the quarter and the Knights scored only three points with the deficit at 37-21 at the halftime break. The Knights found themselves down by as much as 20 points in the third quarter but they slowly chipped away at the lead and would trail 48-40 at the end of the third quarter. The deficit for the Knights grew to 14 points in the fourth quarter but they would keep fighting to get within eight points but the momentum would run out as the Knights would fall 67-57.
India Johnson led the Knights with 18 points and
ZaKyria Johnson would record a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
The Knights will have a week to prepare for their next game when they return to the court on Tuesday, January 14th when they host the Eagles of Faulkner University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
