MACON, Ga. - The Knights were back on their home court on Friday as they were scheduled to take on the Saints of Flagler College. The Knights were riding a three game losing streak and looking to end it against the Saints
The Saints won three of the first four points of the first set but the Knights used a four point run to take a 5-3 lead. The Saints came back to take the lead but the Knights did not let them pull away as the set remained close. The Knights and Saints answered each other down the stretch as the set was tied at 21-21 but the Saints won four of the final five points and the Knights lost the set 25-22.
The Knights looked poised to make a push to win the second set as they got out to a 4-1 lead. The Knights pulled ahead to a 10-4 lead but the Saints used a five point run to get within one point. The Saints continued to hold the lead as they seemed to have the Knights beat. The Saints held a 24-17 lead but the Knights fought back with a seven point run to tie the set at 24-24 and used the momentum to win the set 29-27.
The Knights got off to a slow start in the third set as the Saints won the first four points and six of the first seven points to take a 6-1 lead. The Knights tried to get back in the set but the deficit was too much as the Knights lost 25-18.
Another slow start for the Knights saw the Saints start off the fourth set with an eight point run. The Knights fought back to trim the lead down to six points but the Saints had the upper hand and the Knights lost the set 25-16.
McCall Wolf led the Knights with 15 kills while
Ellie Johnson had eight kills and leading the team with 20 assists and 15 digs.
Ellie Johnson's 9.5 points in the match put her in the top spot all-time at MGA in points, surpassing
Cara MacFarland.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th as they head to Milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College(8-6). That match is scheduled to tip off at 3 PM EST.
