Rhodes Era Starts Off With A W

HARROGATE, Tenn. - The Women's Basketball season officially tipped off on Friday night as the Knights were on the road in Harrogate, Tennessee to take on the Valkyries of Converse University. The Knights were beginning a new chapter with Steven Rhodes at the helm of the program, looking to inject some new life.

The Knights had to find their rhythm early in the game as the Valkyries scored the first seven points of the first quarter before the Knights started to score. The Knights cut the lead down to one point with 4:05 remaining in the quarter before ending the quarter down 15-13. The momentum swung in favor of the Knights in the second quarter as they scored the first eight points of the quarter to take the lead and they held the lead until the halftime break with a 23-21 lead. The Valkyries tied the game at 25-25 early in the third quarter but the Knights went on an eight-point run to pull back ahead and they continued to run away from the Valkyries as they led by as many as 13 points before ending the third quarter up 44-33. The Knights struggled early in the fourth quarter as the Valkyries made a comeback to tie the game at 48-48 with 6:12 remaining in the game. The Valkyries grabbed the lead with 4:11 left in the game before the Knights jumped back on the gas and pulled away to win the game 66-61. Mauryah Jones led the Knights with 15 points off the bench as three other Knights (Cali Levine, Kennedi Hawkins, and Mireia Pou) each added 10 points with Ella Pritchard grabbing 10 rebounds.
