MACON, Ga. – The Knights were back on their home court on Tuesday as they faced the Golden Rams of Albany State University in their final non-conference match of the season. The Knights and Golden Rams played earlier in the season with the Knights falling in a very close match that went the full five sets.
The Knights won the first two points of the first set on their way to a 9-4 early lead. The Knights extended their lead to 14-7 before the Golden Rams started to mount their comeback. The Knights and Golden Rams were tied at 20-20 when the Golden Rams won five of the last seven points to hand the Knights 25-22 set loss. The Golden Rams won four of the first five points to start the second set but a six-point run by the Knights put them ahead 9-6. The Knights kept the lead throughout the rest of the set on their way to a 25-17 set win. The third set was a back-and-forth battle as the start as both teams traded points until the Knights had a three-point run to take a 12-9 lead. The Knights continued to used multiple point runs to pull further ahead and take the set 25-17. The momentum carried over into the fourth set for the Knights as they won the first three points on their way to a 12-2 lead. The Knights kept up their lead and never let the Golden Rams get back into the set as the Knights won the set 25-13.
McCall Wolf had 14 kills to lead the Knights,
Aubrie Beard had 17 assists, and
Paige Collier had 16 digs.
Ellie Johnson recorded a triple-double with 13 kills, 13 assists, and 10 digs.
The Knights will be back in action on Friday, November 7
th as they head to St. Augustine, Florida to take on the Saints of Flagler College. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
