MGA Softball Set to Kick Off First Season of NCAA DII Competition

Cochran, GA – Middle Georgia State University Head Softball Coach Randi Wimpy has announced the Knights schedule for the upcoming 2026 season. The Knights will look to make a splash in their first season as members of the Peach Belt Conference.

The Knights will open the 2026 season in Gulf Shores, Alabama from January 30th-February 1st with six games over the course of three days against Florida Tech, University of Montevallo, Auburn-Montgomery, Union University, West Alabama, and Valdosta State University.

MGA will open their home schedule on February 4th when they take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker Christian University before heading back out on the road to take on Shorter University and then go to Lander University to take on Young Harris College, Southern Wesleyan, and Emory & Henry.

The Knights will return home to face Wesleyan College on February 15th before another long road trip kicks off against Wesleyan College, Reinhardt University, and the start of Peach Belt Conference play against Augusta University.

The Knights will host their first Peach Belt Conference series on March 13th-14th when they host the Saints of Flagler College before heading to Columbus, Georgia to take on the Cougars and then return home for a series against Lander University. A non-conference doubleheader against Fort Valley State interrupts conference play before the Knights hosts USC-Aiken.

The regular season wraps up with road series against USC-Beaufort and Georgia Southwestern before the final home series of the season on April 25th and 26th against the University of North Georgia. The Knights finish the regular season on the road against Georgia College on May 1st and 2nd.

The Knights hope to position themselves as one of the top eight teams in the conference to advance to the PBC Softball Tournament that will be hosted by the #1-seeded team. The PBC Softball Tournament is a single elimination format that runs from May 8th-10th.
