Block Party Lifts Knights Over Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Knights were back in action on Tuesday as they headed to Milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College and State University. The Knights defeated the Pacers of USC-Aiken in their previous game for their first Peach Belt Conference win and were looking to add another conference win to their record.

The Knights got off to a great start as they made the first basket of the game and after a Bobcats free throw, used a seven-point run to take a 9-1 lead. The Knights and Bobcats traded baskets to finish out the first quarter with the Knights leading 15-8. The Knights struggled in the second quarter as turnovers and fouls allowed the Bobcats to tie the game at 17-17. The Knights regained the lead after two made three-pointers and held onto it going into the halftime break, leading 28-25.

Both teams had slow starts to begin the third quarter with the game tied at 31-31 halfway through the third quarter. The Knights started to pick up the pace as they were able to make some shots and separate themselves from the Bobcats late in the third quarter as they held a 42-37 lead going into the final quarter of play. The fourth quarter was another slow start for both teams as the first basket was made over four minutes into the quarter by the Knights. Business picked up late in the fourth quarter as the Knights held a six-point lead with 40 seconds left but two long range shots by the Bobcats tied the game at 51-51.

In overtime, the Knights started to find their rhythm as they jumped out to a nine point lead with 1:26 left in the period.
