Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on the court on Monday, February 10th as they hosted the Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The Knights defeated the Fillies earlier in the season and were looking to complete the season sweep.
The Knights jumped out to an early lead but the Fillies came back to tie the game at 5-5. After the Fillies grabbed the 7-5 lead, the Knights outscored them 14-2 and held a 19-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The lead continued to grow for the Knights in the second quarter as they extended their lead to 17 points before the Fillies closed the gap and the Knights had a 38-25 lead at halftime. The Knights went back up by 15 points in the third quarter but the game got interesting down the stretch with the Fillies closing the deficit down to three points at the end of the third quarter. The Knights lead got down to one point in the fourth quarter but the Knights never relinquished the lead and they went on to win 76-69.
ZaKyria Johnson led the Knights with 27 points and
Lailah Heard added a 21 point-15 rebound double-double.
The Knights will hit the road for their next game as they travel to Marietta, Georgia on Thursday, February 13th when they take on the Running Eagles of Life University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
