West Point, GA - The Knights were on the road on Saturday, February 15th as they traveled to West Point, Georgia to take on the Skyhawks of Point University. The Knights were coming off of a tough double overtime loss to Life University and were looking to get things headed back in the right direction.
The Knights made the first basket of the game but the Skyhawks answered back to take the lead. The Skyhawks jumped out to a six point lead but the Knights tied the game at 16-16 with 11:10 remaining in the first half. The lead continued to be traded between the two teams with the Skyhawks holding the 35-33 lead at halftime. The game remained close in the second half as both teams looked evenly matched. The Knights looked to be pulling away, taking a six point lead with 9:08 remaining in the game, but the Skyhawks held their composure and tied the game at 60-60 with 4:16 remaining in the game. The Knights kept the Skyhawks from taking the lead as they had a five point lead in the final seconds before coming away with the 67-64 win.
Milique Smith led the Knights with 18 points and 13 rebounds as
Jamal Taylor and
David Ganious each added 12 points and
Bryce Turner had 10 points. The win for the Knights marks the 150th win for the program as an NAIA school.
The Knights will return to Morris Gym for their next game on Wednesday, February 19th against the Nighthawks of Thomas University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.
