Cochran, GA - The Knights were back on their home field on Tuesday, February 17th as they hosted the Eagles of Reinhardt University. The Knights were coming off of a week long break after playing two NCAA D-II schools.
The first game of the doubleheader was all in favor of the Knights. The Knights scored two runs in the third inning, both on a fielder's choice, as they had a 2-0 lead. The Knights scored another run in the fourth inning on a
Gabbie Haas sacrifice fly, another run in the fifth inning on a
Grace Avery RBI single, and their final run in the sixth inning on a thwarted double steal. Five runs was more than enough for the Knights as
Emily Proctor was dominant on the mound, striking out 12 Eagles and allowing five hits. The Knights looked to continue their scoring into the second game with an RBI single in the first inning from
Madison Cosgrove. The Eagles scored six runs in the second inning and one run in the fifth inning to take a 7-1 lead over the Knights. The Knights got one run back in the fifth inning on a Cosgrove RBI single but the Eagles scored three runs in the sixth to force the mercy rule win.
The Knights will be back in action on Friday, February 21st when they travel to West Point, Georgia to take on the Skyhawks of Point University to open conference play. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
