Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Tuesday, February 18th as they hosted a future Peach Belt opponent in USC-Beaufort. The Knights and Sand Sharks have played each other multiple times in the past few seasons with the Sand Sharks with the Knights losing the last three meetings.
The Knights were quick to get ahead of the Sand Sharks as they scored four runs in the first inning as
Michael Flaherty two-run double got things started. A wild pitch scored the third run of the inning and an RBI single by
Grey Brannen put the Knights ahead 4-0. The Knights and Sand Sharks bats went quiet until the sixth inning when the Knights scored three runs after RBI singles by
Josh Cunniff and
Chaz Salter and a balk by the Sand Sharks plated another run with the Knights taking a 7-0 lead. The Knights went into the seventh inning needing only three runs to force the mercy rule. RBI singles by
Tate Abbott and
Josh Cunniff put the Knights within one run and a bases loaded walk drawn by
Seve Fernandez walked the game off as the Knights won 10-0. The Knights pitching staff was the highlight of the game as they combined to allow only three hits and striking out seven batters.
The Knights will hit the road this weekend for their first road conference series when they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on the Crusaders of William Carey University.
