Knights Sweep Fillies

Tifton, GA - The Knights were back on the road on Saturday, February 22nd as they headed to Tifton, Georgia to take on the Fillies of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The Knights won the first two conference games of the season on Friday and were looking to add two more to the total on Saturday.

The Knights broke the game open in the third inning when they scored six runs on RBI doubles by Grace Avery and Alexis Cosgrove, a two-run double by Mel Bullock, and a solo home run by Madison Cosgrove. The Fillies scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning but the Knights answered back in the fifth inning with an insurance run on a double steal. The two offenses went quiet again and the defense shined as the Knights won 7-2. The Knights fell behind in the third inning of the second game of the day but grabbed the lead after scoring two runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kaylee Oliver and an RBI single by Madisyn Riggins. The Knights added another run in the sixth inning with an RBI triple by Riggins to push their lead to 3-1. The Knights kept the momentum going into the seventh inning when they scored four runs on RBI singles by Grace Avery and Alexis Cosgrove, an RBI double by Madison Cosgrove, and Carmen Phillips scored on a wild pitch. The Fillies did not go away quietly as they scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning but the Knights found a way to get the final out to win 7-5. Emily Proctor and Madisyn Riggins got the wins for each game, both struck out five batters.

The Knights will be back in action on Friday, February 28th when they host the Nighthawks of Thomas University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
