Knights Split With Skyhawks

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at Stuckey Field on Friday, February 28th as they hosted the Skyhawks of Point University. The Knights were trying to end a four-game skid and the Skyhawks looked to be a good team to end it.

After giving up three runs in the first inning, the Knights answered back in the second inning with nine runs, highlighted by a three run home run by Jaiden Duarte and a solo home run by Tate Abbott. The Skyhawks put five runs on the board in the third inning but the Knights had an answer with six runs in the bottom half of the inning with Yadiel Perez scoring on a wild pitch, a hit by pitch with the bases loaded and a grand slam by Tate Abbott. The Knights scored seven more runs in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Connor Shealy and a parade of RBi singles. The Skyhawks scored a run in the sixth inning but the Knights put another three runs on the board in the bottom half of the inning with a Michael Flaherty three run home run that sealed the 25-9 win for the Knights. The second game of the day started much like the first game as the Skyhawks scored three runs in the first inning. The Knights got one run back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring on an error to cut the lead to 3-1. The Skyhawks pushed across another run in the second inning after a hit by pitch with the bases loaded to take a 4-1 lead. The lead continued to grow with one run in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning to take an 8-1 lead. The Knights got one run in the fifth inning on a Chaz Salter RBI double but the Skyhawks answered back with one run in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 10-2 lead. The Knights scored two runs in the eighth inning on an RBI groundout by Yadiel Perez and a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 10-4. The Skyhawks put the game away with three runs in the ninth inning and the Knights lost 13-4.

The Knights will take the field again on Saturday, March 1st as they look to come away from the series with another win to win the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
