Fort Valley, GA – The Knights were back in action on Tuesday, February 4
th as they hit the road to face off against NCAA D-II Wildcats of Fort Valley State University. The Knights faced the Wildcats earlier in the season and were looking to get a better result.
The first quarter was a sign of things to come for the game as the Knights and Wildcats could not separate from each other. The largest lead of the quarter was three points and the game was tied at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Wildcats pull ahead of the Knights but the Knights used a seven point run late in the quarter to tie the game at 28-28 before the Wildcats made a shot at the end of the quarter to go up 30-28 at halftime. The Wildcats jumped back out to a seven point lead in the third quarter but the Knights found another run and tied the game at 37-37. The Wildcats scored the final four points of the quarter to head into the last ten minutes up 41-37. The Wildcats lead grew to 10 points in the fourth quarter before the Knights came back again late in the fourth quarter, grabbing a one point lead with 1:09 remaining in the game. The Wildcats scored the final six points of the game and the Knights lost the game 59-54.
ZaKyria Johnson and
Chloe Pollock led the Knights with 12 points each and
Lailah Heard grabbed 14 rebounds.
The Knights will be back on the court on Thursday, February 6
th when they host another NCAA D-II opponent in the Golden Rams of Albany State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
