Cochran, GA - The Knights were on their home court on Saturday, February 8th as they hosted the 11th-ranked Roadrunners of Dalton State College. The Knights were looking to avenge an earlier loss in the season to the Roadrunners.
The Knights came out ready to play as they grabbed an early 8-2 lead but the Roadrunners tied the game up at 10-10. The Knights and Roadrunners traded the lead throughout the first half with the Roadrunners taking a five point lead with 10:35 remaining in the half. The Knights tied the game at 24-24 but the Roadrunners had another six point lead with 3:30 remaining in the half. A six point run by the Knights tied the game and the Knights trailed by two points at halftime. The game continued to go back and forth as neither team could sustain a run with the Roadrunners and Knights trading the lead countless times. The Roadrunners held a two point lead late until
Nick Cham hit a jumper with six seconds remaining to tie the game at 78-78 to force overtime. In overtime, the Knights had a four point lead but the Roadrunners had a two point lead with 1:57 remaining. The Knights scored five of the final six points of the overtime period to win the game 87-85.
Nick Cham led the Knights with 23 points,
David Ganious added 18 points, and both
Milique Smith (16 points, 12 rebounds) and
Bryce Turner (11 points, 17 rebounds) had double-doubles.
The Knights will be back on the court on Monday, February 10th as they host the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.
