Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at home on Saturday, March 15th as they hosted the Grizzlies of Georgia Gwinnett College. The Knights lost to the Grizzlies on Friday and were hoping to use some home field advantage to return the favor.
The Grizzlies struck first in the second inning but the Knights answered back with a three-run home run from
Justin Aponte. The Grizzlies regained the lead in the third inning with two runs but the Knights tied the game at 5-5 in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run home run from
Michael Flaherty. The Grizzlies pulled away in the fourth inning with six runs and the Knights got one run back in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single by
Yadiel Perez. The Grizzlies scored two more runs in the fifth inning to take a 13-6 lead. The Knights attempted to make a comeback in the seventh inning with two runs on an RBI single from
Grey Brannen and a fielder's choice by Aponte but the Knights attempt fell short as they lost 13-8.
The Knights looked to have better luck in the second game of the day. The Grizzlies scored two runs in the first inning but the Knights cut the deficit in half in the third inning with a sacrifice fly from
Tate Abbott. That would be all the offense the Knights could muster as the Grizzlies scored three runs in the fourth inning, seven runs in the fifth inning, and five runs in the sixth inning as the Knights lost 17-1.
The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, March 18th when they travel to Cleveland, Georgia to take on the Bears of Truett-McConnell University. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM EDT.
