Knights Drop Pair to Nighthawks

Cochran, GA - The Knights were on their home field on Friday, March 21st as they hosted the Nighthawks of Thomas University. The Knights were coming off of a win earlier in the week against Truett-McConnell University and looked to carry the momentum into the weekend.

The Knights found the momentum early as they scored three runs in the second inning on a solo home run by Teonis Pimentel, a sacrifice fly by Jose Vargas, and an RBI groundout by Chaz Salter. The Knights extended their lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Pimentel and scored another run on a double play as they held a 5-0 lead after three innings of play. The Nighthawks found their own momentum in the later stages of the game as they scored one run in the fourth inning, two runs in the fifth inning, and six runs in the seventh inning as the Knights lost the game 9-5.

The momentum for the Nighthawks carried over into the second game of the night as they scored one run in the first inning and four runs in the second inning and the Knights faced an early deficit. The Knights got one run back in the fourth inning on a Salter RBI single but the Nighthawks got the run back in the seventh inning. The Nighthawks scored another run in the eighth inning but the Knights answered back in the bottom half of the inning with a Datren Bray RBI single to cut the lead down to 7-2. The Nighthawks added two insurance runs in the ninth inning and the Knights lost 9-2.

The Knights will be back at Stuckey Field on Saturday, March 22nd as they looked to avoid the sweep. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EDT.
