Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Saturday, March 22nd as they finished off their series against the Nighthawks of Thomas University. The Knights dropped the first two games of the series on Friday and were looking to salvage at least one win from the series.
The Knights fell behind in the third inning after the Nighthawks scored one run and the Nighthawks added to their lead with one run in the fifth inning and sixth innings. The Knights bats woke up in the sixth inning with a double by
Seve Fernandez and a single by
Chaz Salter with an error allowing Fernandez to score on the play. The Knights loaded the bases in the seventh inning for
Jose Vargas to hit a two-run double and the game was tied at 3-3. Neither team scored in the eighth or ninth innings and the game moved to extra innings. The Nighthawks scored two runs in the top of the tenth inning to take a 5-3 lead over the Knights. A solo home run by
Zane Faulk cut the lead to 5-4 but the Knights were unable to score again as they lost 5-4.
The Knights will be back on the road for their next series of games as they head to Tifton, Georgia to take on the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College starting on Friday, March 28th. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM EST.
