Knights Secure Series Over Firehawks

Pulaski, TN - The Knights were on the road on Friday, March 7th as they traveled to Pulaski, Tennessee to take on the Firehawks of UT-Southern. The Knights had hit a recent rough patch and were looking to dig their way out of it.

The Knights got the scoring started in the top of the first inning with an RBI single by Zane Faulk. After the Firehawks scored three in the bottom of the first inning, the Knights put up five runs in the second inning on an RBI single by Yadiel Perez, a two-run triple by Jaiden Duarte, and a two-run home run by Faulk to give the Knights a 6-1 lead. The Knights added on five more runs in the fifth inning on a two-run single by Jose Vargas, a balk that scored a run, and a two-run home run by Chaz Salter. The Firehawks plated two runs in the sixth inning but the Knights countered with three runs of their own in the seventh inning on a Josh Cunniff RBi single and an error that allowed another run to score and an RBI single by Vargas to give the Knights a 14-5 lead. The Firehawks scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh but the Knights held on for the 14-7 win.

The offense looked to carry over from the first game for the Knights as they scored three runs in the first inning after two bases loaded walks and an RBI single by Perez. The Knights added two more runs in the second inning on RBI singles by Faulk and Michael Flaherty to give the Knights a 5-1 lead. The runs kept coming for the Knights with an RBI single in the third inning by Robert Fredericks and an RBI single in the fourth inning by Teonis Pimentel. The Firehawks got both runs back in the fourth inning but the Knights had an answer with a solo home run in the fifth inning by Salter that finished off the scoring for the Knights. The Firehawks closed the deficit down to three runs but the Knights had another closing opportunity for Carter Oglageo and he shut the door on the Firehawks to give the Knights an 8-5 win that secured the series win.

The Knights will be back on the diamond on Saturday, March 8th as they look to complete the sweep over the Firehawks. First pitch is scheduled for 12 PM CST.
