Box Score Pulaski, TN – The Knights were back on the field on Saturday, March 8
th as they looked to finish off their conference weekend at UT-Southern with a sweep. The Knights won the first two games of the series on Friday and looked to keep the offense rolling into Saturday's game.
After the Firehawks scored a run in the first inning, the Knights loaded the bases in the second inning with no outs but a strike out and double play ended their chances of having a big inning. The Knights took the lead in the third inning after a leadoff single by
Chaz Salter set up
Jaiden Duarte for an RBI triple to tie the game at 1-1. A two-run home run by
Zane Faulk and an RBI single by
Tate Abbott ended the scoring for the Knights. The Knights extended their lead in the fourth inning on a three-run home run by Duarte as they held a 7-1 lead over the Firehawks. The Knights added an insurance run in the sixth inning on an RBI single by
Michael Flaherty and added two more runs in the eighth inning with another RBI single by Flaherty and scoring on a wild pitch to take a 10-1 lead. The Knights pitching staff kept the Firehawks from starting any comebacks as the Knights went on to win the game 10-1. Faulk went 3-for-4 and Duarte went 2-for-5 with four RBI's.
The series sweep put the Knights at 13-10, 7-5 SSAC putting them in a tie for 4
th in the conference standings. The Knights will be back in action on Tuesday, March 11
th as they travel to Thomasville, Georgia to take on the Nighthawks of Thomas University for a mid-week, non-conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 4 PM EST.
