Softball Completes Day One of Gulf Shores Invitational

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Gulf Shores, AL – The Knights traveled down to Gulf Shores, Alabama to take part in the 2025 Gulf Shores Invitational. The Knights were set to take on Campbellsville University and Freed-Hardeman University on Friday, March 7th.
 
Game One – Campbellsville University
 
The Knights started the game off with a great chance of scoring a run after getting a runner on third but came away with no runs. Singles in the third inning by Caroline Albritton and Gabbie Haas gave the Knights another chance but they came away with no runs again. The Tigers scored one run in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, and one run in the seventh as the Knights lost 4-0. Albritton went 2-for-2 in the game with two singles.
 
Game Two – Freed-Hardeman University
 
The Knights had a great chance in the first inning after a walk and double put runners on second and third but the Knights could not find a way to drive in any runs. After the Lions scored two runs in the third inning, a Mel Bullock solo home run cut the deficit down to 2-1. The Lions added another two runs in the fifth inning as the Knights trailed 4-1. The Knights led off the sixth inning with back-to-back singles by Carmen Phillips and Grace Avery. An RBI single by Kaylee Oliver put the Knights behind by two runs. The Knights tied the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning after a double by Whitney Lee and RBI doubles by Madisyn Riggins and Carmen Phillips. In extra innings, the Lions got a bunt down and a throwing error by the Knights allowed the winning run to score, giving the Knights a 5-4 loss.
 
The Knights will be back on the field on Saturday, March 8th as they take on the Jaguars of Houston-Victoria and the Eagles of United States Sports Academy. Those games will take place at 6 PM and 8 PM CST.
