Knights Split Midweek With Barons

Mount Vernon, GA – The Knights were back on the road on Tuesday, April 1st as they traveled to Mount Vernon, Georgia to take on the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were coming off of a series win over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College but lost the final game of the series.
 
The Knights got things started in the first inning after a Jaiden Duarte double and Chaz Salter single allowed Tate Abbott to hit the two-run single to put the Knights up 2-0. The Barons answered back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own and they scored three runs in the second inning to go up 5-2. The Knights got one run back in the third inning on a Casual Kay RBI single and they went ahead in the fourth inning after scoring four runs on a solo home run by Connor Shealy and RBI singles by Chaz Salter and Tate Abbott. The Barons grabbed the lead in the fifth inning after scoring five runs to put the Knights behind 10-7. The Knights tied the game in the sixth inning after a two-run home run by Tate Abbott and a solo home run by Casual Kay. The game remained tied at 10-10 until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Barons scored the game winning run.
 
The Knights offense looked to stay on track in the second game of the night as they scored two runs in the first inning on a Teonis Pimentel two-run home run. The Knights scored another two runs in the second inning on an RBI single by Jose Vargas and an error on the Barons as the Knights went up 4-0. The Knights put up 10 runs in the third inning after RBI singles by Grey Brannen and Mikal Ashley while the Barons pitching staff was unable to find the strike zone. Two more runs were scored in the fourth inning after an RBI double by Teonis Pimentel and a sacrifice fly by Justin Aponte put the Knights up 16-0. A two-run single by Jose Vargas and an RBI single by Michael Flaherty in the fifth inning and an RBI single by Vargas in the sixth inning gave the Knights 20 runs in the game as they won 20-1.
 
The Knights will be back on the road this weekend as they travel to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the Eagles of Faulkner University. First pitch on Friday, April 4th is at 6 PM CDT.
