Montgomery, AL – The Knights hit the road on Friday, April 4
th as they traveled to Montgomery, Alabama to take on the 13
th-ranked Eagles of Faulkner University in the first game of the weekend series that had been designated the SSAC Series of the Week. The Knights and Eagles have historically had some great games against each other and they were looking to continue that trend.
The Knights started off the game by scoring two runs in the second inning after singles by
Tate Abbott and
Michael Flaherty set up
Yadiel Perez for the two-run double to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. The Knights added another run in the fourth inning after leadoff singles by Abbott and Flaherty led to an RBI single by Perez to extend the Knights lead to 3-0. The Eagles answered back in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to tie the game at 3-3. The Knights grabbed the lead again in the seventh inning after a walk by
Jose Vargas led to a two-run home run by
Chaz Salter to give the Knights a 5-3 lead. The Eagles clawed their way back in the game in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run shot of their own to tie the game up at 5-5. The game remained tied at the end of regulation and the two teams headed into extra innings. The game went into the 11
th inning when the Eagles hit a two-run home run to walk the game off and the Knights lost 7-5.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, April 5
th as they play two games against the Eagles to finish off the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM CDT.
