Knights Tame Cougars With Faulk's Bat

Cochran, GA - The Knights were back in action on Tuesday, April 15th as they hosted the Cougars of Columbus State University. The Knights and Cougars previously played earlier this season with the Cougars taking the 9-0 win and the Knights were hoping to reverse their fortune at home, riding into the game on a four game winning streak.

The Knights jumped on the Cougars early with back-to-back singles to lead off the second inning to set up Jaiden Duarte for the RBI single to put the Knights up 1-0. A single by Jose Vargas and a sacrifice bunt in the third inning led to an RBI double by Zane Faulk and the Knights took a 2-0 lead. The Cougars scored a run in the fourth inning to cut the lead in half but the Knights were able to extend the lead in the fifth inning with another RBI double by Faulk. The Knights fell behind in the sixth inning after giving up a three-run home run but the bats were able to stay hot in the bottom half of the inning with two walks to lead off the inning led to a wild pitch allowing a run to score and an RBI single by Yadiel Perez as the Knights regained the lead. The Knights continued to swing the hot bat in the seventh inning with a two-run home run by Teonis Pimentel to go ahead 7-4. The Cougars scored one run in the top of the eighth inning but a three-run home run in the bottom half of the inning by Faulk all but sealed the win for the Knights. The Cougars tried to mount a comeback in the ninth inning with one run but the Knights thwarted the attempt as they won 10-6. Zane Faulk was 4-for-5 at the plate with five RBI.

The Knights winning streak extends to five games as they head into the weekend with a conference series against the Rams of the University of Mobile. The Knights will play two games on Friday, April 18th and one game on Saturday, April 19th as they look to stay hot as both teams are tied for fifth in the SSAC with 12-12 records. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM CDT.
