Cochran, GA - The Knights were back at Stuckey Field on Thursday, April 24th for the final time this season as they hosted the Barons of Brewton-Parker College. The Knights were coming off of a walkoff loss to Mobile and looking to take their frustrations out on the Barons.
The Knights came ready to play as they scored one run in the bottom of the first inning on a RBI groundout by
Zane Faulk. The Knights added to their lead in the second inning with an RBI single from
Yadiel Perez and a three-run home run by
Chaz Salter to take a 5-0 lead. The Knights kept their foot on the gas pedal as they scored two runs in the third inning with another RBI single by Perez and a balk on the Barons pitcher that allowed another run to score. Two more runs came across in the fourth inning with RBI singles by
Tate Abbott and
Jose Vargas as they Knights held a 9-0 lead after four innings of play. The Knights put themselves in position for the mercy rule in the fifth inning with a bases loaded hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by
Teonis Pimentel, an RBI single by
Connor Shealy, and a two-run double by Vargas that put the Knights up 14-0. The Barons scored one run in the sixth inning but the Knights pitching kept the Barons from attempting a comeback as the Knights won the game 14-1.
Chaz Salter went 3-for-4 at the plate and
Jose Vargas,
Yadiel Perez, and
Connor Shealy each had two hits.
Ethan Gill picked up his seventh win of the season after throwing five innings of work, allowing only one hit and striking out four batters.
The Knights will be back on the field on Friday, April 25th as they close out the series and regular season against the Barons. First pitch is scheduled for 2 PM EDT.
