FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The Knights were on the road on Thursday as they headed to Franklin Springs, Georgia to take on the Lions of Emmanuel University. The Knights won the first two matches of the season, both against Savannah State, and were looking to continue their hot start.
The Knights fell behind early in the first set but came back to tie the set at 6-6. The Lions won 11 of the next 13 points as the Knights went on to lose the set 25-15.
The second set went much like the first with the Knights dropping eight of the first ten points but unlike the first set, the Knights were unable to claw their way back as they lost 25-16.
The Knights had a better start in the third set as they got out to a 5-2 lead. The Lions went on a six point run to take the lead and held the lead throughout the rest of the set with the Knights losing 25-19.
Ellie Johnson led the Knights with eight kills and 11 assists, earning a double-double with 12 digs.
Paige Collier led the way with 18 digs.
The Knights will remain on the road for their next match on Friday, September 12th as they head to Marietta, Georgia to take on the Running Eagles of Life University. Tip off is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
