Knights Go The Distance With Golden Rams

ALBANY, Ga. – The Knights were back on the road on Tuesday as they headed to Albany, Georgia to take on the Golden Rams of Albany State University. The Knights were coming off of a road trip that saw them go 0-2 and the Knights were looking to turn their luck around.
 
The Knights got out to an early lead in the first set but the Golden Rams came back to tie the set at 7-7. They used a four point run to pull ahead and another four point run later in the set to put the Knights away as they lost the first set 25-20.
 
The second set stayed competitive throughout the first half of the set as both teams stayed close. The Golden Rams used a five point run to go ahead by seven points and the Knights were unable to close the gap as they lost the second set 25-16.
 
The Knights had their backs against the wall as they tried to keep the match going past a third set. The Knights used an early five point run to go up 8-3 but the Golden Rams fought back to tie the set at 19-19. The Knights got another four point run to pull ahead and win the set 25-21.
 
The Knights had controlled the early part of the fourth set but the Golden Rams came back to take a 19-17 lead. The Knights went on a six point run to take the lead and held on for a 25-22 win.
 
The match went into the fifth and final set with the Knights and Golden Rams playing a hard fought final set. The set went back and forth between both teams until the Golden Rams used a four point run to take the lead late in the set and the Knights lost the set 15-11.
 
Ellie Johnson led the Knights as she recorded a triple-double with 13 kills, 16 assists, and 14 digs. Aubrie Beard led the Knights with 17 assists and Yanelis Rodriguez led the Knights with 20 digs.
 
The Knights will be back on the court on Saturday, September 20th as they host the Eagles of Baptist University of Florida. That match is scheduled to start at 3 PM EST.
