COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back on their home pitch on Wednesday after a road trip that saw the Knights go 1-0-1. The Knights were set to take on the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern in their Peach Belt Conference opener.
The Hurricanes were on the ball early and often with a number of shots before the Knights were able to get their first shot off. The Hurricanes pulled ahead in the 21st minute with a goal. The Knights controlled the ball better in the last 15 minutes of the first half as they fired off four shots but were unable to find the back of the net and the Knights trailed 1-0 at the half.
The Knights found themselves fighting an uphill battle in the second half as the Hurricanes quickly added another goal in the 50th minute. The Hurricanes continued to hold possession over the Knights as they added another goal in the 62nd minute. The Knights were able to get off a couple of shots late in the match but were unsuccessful in scoring as they lost the match 3-0.
The Knights were outshot 18-9, 6-4 in shots on goal.
The Knights will head back out on the road for their next match on Saturday, September 20th as they head to Greenwood, South Carolina to take on the Bearcats of Lander University. Kick off is scheduled for 7 PM EST.
