COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights opened the NCAA era on Thursday night as they hosted the Blazers of Valdosta State University. The Knights were looking to get the season started off on a high note and looked to avenge a 3-0 loss last season.
The first half looked to go the way of the Blazers as they would control the ball for most of the half. The Blazers went ahead in the 40th minute and the Knights went into halftime down 1-0. The Knights had more opportunities in the second half as they controlled the ball better. The Knights had more shots in the second half and were able to capitalize on a corner kick in the 86th minute that hit off a Blazer defender and at the feet of
Tegan Mullins to put in the net and tie the match at 1-1. A Blazer offside and a saved shot by the Knights ended the match and the Knights came away with the draw. The Knights were outshot 7-1 in the first half but outshot the Blazers 8-1 in the second half.
The Knights will be back on the pitch on Saturday, September 6th when they host the Badgers of Spring Hill College. Kick off is scheduled for 1:30 PM EST.
