COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights opened their season at home on Thursday as they faced longtime rival, the Barons of Brewton-Parker Christian University. The Knights wanted to get their season started off in the right direction.
The Knights kicked the season off with a bang as they got three quick goals within the first 15 minutes of the match.
Roland Scott started the scoring in the 11th minute with an assist from
Sean McCrudden,
Scott Osbourne added a goal in the 15th minute with an assist from
Moos Zwerts, and
Leighton Thomas scored in the 16th minute with assists from
Gonzalo Sotos and
Tobias Prokert on a corner kick. The excitement died down until the 45th minute when
Noah Romyanond added a goal with an assist from
Javier Gongora to put the Knights up 4-0 going into halftime. The Barons made adjustments as the second half was much more even but the Knights continued to add to their lead. A second goal from Osbourne in the 57th minute and a goal from
Jatniel Ardila in the 87th minute put the Knights up 6-0 as they would win by the same score. The Knights outshot the Barons 23-11.
The Knights will be back on the pitch on Thursday, September 11th as they head out on the road for the first time this season to take on the Tritons of Eckerd College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM EST.
