MACON, Ga. - The Knights were back on the court on Saturday as they opened their home schedule with a match against the Tigers of Savannah State University. The Knights defeated the Tigers on Thursday in a close five set match and were looking to get a more dominant win at home.
After the Tigers won the first point of the first set, the Knights answered back with eight straight points to take a commanding lead. The Knights held the lead throughout the set as the Tigers were unable to recover and the Knights won the first set, 25-16.
The Knights dropped the first three points of the second set but came back to take a 6-4 advantage. The set bounced back and forth between both teams until a six point run by the Knights late in the set put them up by five points and the Knights went on to win the set 25-20.
The Tigers jumped out to another lead in the third set but the Knights were resilient and fought their way back. The set was highly contested between both teams until the Knights made a late rally to pull ahead and take the set 25-21 to win the match 3-0.
McCall Wolf led the Knights with nine kills,
Aubrie Beard (16) and
Ellie Johnson (11) both reached double digits in assists, and Johnson led the way with seven digs.
The Knights will back on the road for their next match as they head to Franklin Springs, Georgia to take on the Lions of Emmanuel College. Tip off is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
