MORROW, Ga. - The Knights were back in action on Saturday as they headed to Morrow, Georgia to take on the Lakers of Clayton State University. The Knights had won their previous two games while the Lakers had lost their previous three games.
A slow start by the Knights saw the Lakers jump out to an eight point lead but the Knights fought back to tie the game at 12-12. The game stayed close throughout the first half as both teams traded the lead and the Knights had a four point lead late in the half but the Lakers used an eight point run to end the half and the Knights found themselves down 34-30 at halftime.
The Lakers lead grew to six points at the start of the second half and the Knights started to chip away as they regained the lead with 14:21 left in the second half. The game remained close as both teams had leads down the stretch with the largest lead either team could muster being three points. The game went back and forth until the final minute when the Lakers went up by four points. The Knights made a shot in the final seconds but were unable to come away with the win as they lost 74-72.
Greg Jones led the Knights with 17 points and 10 rebounds, his third double-double of the season, with
Joshua Robertson and
Krishen Atwal each adding 13 points.
The Knights will back on the court on Wednesday, January 14th as they host the Nighthawks of the University of North Georgia. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 PM EST.
