COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back in action on Wednesday at home as they hosted the 10th-ranked Nighthawks of North Georgia. The Knights were coming off of a tough loss on the road to Clayton State while the Nighthawks had won their previous two games.
The Knights looked ready to play as they jumped out to a five point lead before the Nighthawks came back to take a one point lead with 13:49 left in the first half. The Nighthawks lead grew to five points but the Knights got on a run to tie the game at 18-18 with 9:50 left in the half. The lead changed hands multiple times before the Knights were able to sustain a three point lead late in the half. The Nighthawks ended the half with 10 unanswered points and the Knights trailed 42-35 at halftime.
The Knights offense came out of the break ready to get the lead back as they opened the second half on an 11-2 run to take a one point lead. The offense continued to fire on all cylinders as they quickly pushed the lead out to 10 points with 10:20 left in the game. The Nighthawks worked to cut into the lead and the Knights saw their lead dwindle down to two points. After going back up by five, the Knights lead was cut down to one point with 3:19 remaining in the game. The Knights went on a nine point run to get the lead back up to ten points and a late charge by the Nighthawks got them to within three points but the Knights were able to hold off the charge and win the game 79-74.
Joshua Robertson led the Knights with 25 points as
Daniel Lamonte added 17 points and
Greg Jones added 16 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
The Knights will be back in action on Saturday, January 17th as they head to Greenwood, South Carolina to face the Bearcats of Lander University. Tip off is scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.
