GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Knights were back on the road on Saturday as they headed to Greenwood, South Carolina to take on the Bearcats of Lander University. The Knights were winners of their last two contests while the Bearcats were also winners of their last two games.

The Knights got out in front early in the first quarter as they scored the first five points of the game. The Knights continued to score as they got out in front by nine points before the Bearcats closed the lead down to six points at the end of the quarter. The lead reached double digits early in the second quarter but a 10 point run by the Bearcats tied the game at 19-19. The lead changed hands multiple times down the stretch until the Knights held a two point lead heading into the halftime break.

The lead went up to five points early in the third quarter and it was the largest lead of the quarter as the Bearcats kept pace with the Knights and the game stayed close. The score was tied at 44-44 late in the quarter before the Knights ended the third quarter with a one point lead. The Bearcats grabbed the lead early in the fourth quarter and the Knights quickly tied the game at 49-49 but the Knights never regained the lead as the Bearcats pulled away through the fourth quarter and the Knights lost 69-63.

Mauryah Jones led the Knights with 16 points off the bench as Ellie Southards added 13 points and Kennedi Hawkins added 12 points.

The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, January 21st as they head to Columbus, Georgia to take on the Cougars of Columbus State University. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST
