COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Knights were on the road on Wednesday as they headed to Columbus, Georgia to take on the Cougars of Columbus State University. The Knights lost their last game to Lander University while the Cougars were winners of their last two games.
The Cougars jumped out to an early 5-0 lead but the Knights fought back to tie the game at 8-8. The Cougars regained the lead but the Knights held their own as they kept the Cougars within reach. The lead stayed within four points for most of the first half until late when the Cougars surged ahead in the final minute to go up by nine points. The Knights hit the final shot of the half as they trailed 32-25 heading into the halftime break.
The Cougars came out of the break ready to go while the Knights came out stagnant as the Cougars quickly pulled ahead by double digits. The deficit for the Knights grew to 20 points with 13:49 remaining in the game and reached its peak of 23 points before the Knights settled in. The Knights were able to cut the lead down to 11 points but the Cougars pulled back ahead and the Knights lost 76-58.
Joshua Robertson led the Knights with 17 points while
OT Delancy and
Krishen Atwal each added 12 points and
Daniel Lamonte pulled down 10 rebounds.
The Knights will return home on Saturday, January 24th as they host the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern. Tip off is scheduled for 3:30 PM EST.
