COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back on their home court on Saturday as they hosted the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern. The Knights were looking to get back on track after losing their previous two contests while the Hurricanes had lost their last four games.
The Knights got out to an early lead with the first made basket of the game but the Hurricanes quickly grabbed an eight point lead. The Knights worked their way back to bring the lead back down and they were able to tie the game at 18-18 to end the first quarter. The Hurricanes pulled back ahead early in the second quarter with a four point lead but five straight points by the Knights put them out in front by one point. The Knights held on to the lead as they were able to put a gap on the Hurricanes and held a 35-28 heading into halftime.
The Knights extended their lead to 10 points early in the third quarter but the Hurricanes were able to go on a run and tied the game at 43-43 with 6:30 remaining in the third quarter. The Knights looked to regroup but the Hurricanes kept hitting their shots and the Knights trailed by six points at the end of the third quarter. The Hurricanes lead grew to 12 points in the fourth quarter but the Knights would not go down easily. The Knights made a run at the Hurricanes to get back into the game but were only able to cut the led down to three points as they lost the game 70-66.
Mireia Pou and
Mauryah Jones led the Knights with 16 points each as Pou also had nine assists and
Ella Pritchard grabbed nine rebounds.
The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, January 28th as they host the Bobcats of Georgia College. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
