Women's Basketball Uses Strong Second Half to Defeat Pacers

AIKEN, S.C. - The Knights hit the road on Friday, January 30th to face the Pacers of USC-Aiken. Weather forced the game to be moved up from Saturday and the Knights were on short rest after having played on Wednesday. The Pacers had the advantage as they had not played since 1/24.

The Knights got off to a poor start as the Pacers grabbed an early 8-1 lead. The Knights tried to close the gap but were only able to get within four points as they trailed 16-12 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter got off to a better start for the Knights as they surged ahead early and held a six point lead. The Pacers would recover and move back into the lead late in the quarter as the Knights trailed 36-32 at halftime.

The Knights found a spark during the break as they came out and scored in bunches as they regained the lead and found themselves up by double digits. The Pacers cut the lead down to nine points and the Knights led 53-44 at the end of the third quarter. The offense continued to shine in the fourth quarter as the Knights pulled away from the Pacers and won the game 64-47.

Kristen Foglia and Kennedi Hawkins each had 15 points to lead the Knights with Hawkins also grabbing 16 rebounds.

The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, February 4th as they head to Saint Augustine, Florida to take on the Saints of Flagler College. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 PM EST.
