Baseball Even Series Against Jaguars

COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back in action at home on Saturday, March 14th as they played the second game of their Peach Belt Conference series against the Jaguars of Augusta University. The Knights lost the first game of the series and were looking to even it up with a win on Saturday.

Game Recap

The Knights fell behind in the first inning after giving up two runs in the first inning but came back in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run from Teonis Pimentel, and RBI single from Sebastian Collender, and a sacrifice fly from Seve Fernandez to take a 3-2 lead. The Jaguars scored one run in the second inning to tie the game at 3-3 but the Knights answered back in the third inning with four runs on a Luke Davis sacrifice fly, RBI singles from Seve Fernandez and Jonathan Bay, and an RBI double from Reco Coney to take a 7-3 lead. The offense kept firing as they scored three more runs in the fourth inning on a Luke Davis RBI groundout and a two-run single by Seve Fernandez to distance themselves from the Jaguars. The Knights put the mercy rule in play with three more runs in the sixth inning with an RBI double from Luke Davis and RBI singles from Seve Fernandez and Reco Coney. The Jaguars scored one run in the seventh inning to keep the game going before Sebastian Collender hit a walkoff two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning to force the mercy rule and give the Knights a 15-4 win.

Notable Performances

Mikal Ashley was 4-for-4 at the plate, Seve Fernandez was 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBI, and Sebastian Collender and Reco Coney each went 3-for-4. Brodie Keener picked up the win, throwing 4 and 2/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowing only two hits.

The Knights wrap up the series on Sunday, March 15th as they go after their first Peach Belt Conference series win against Augusta University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
