Softball Picks Up Another Sweep

FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Knights were back on the road on Tuesday, March 31st as they headed to Fort Valley, Georgia to take on the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University. The Knights were coming off of a series sweep over Lander Unviersity and looking to continue working their way back to .500 on the season.

Game One

The Knights got the scoring started early as they plated three runs in the first inning on a Mel Bullock sacrifice fly and a two-run double by Cassidy Ross. The Knights added two more runs in the second inning on a two-run double by Bullock to take a 5-0 lead. The offense quieted down until the sixth inning when Ross hit a two-run single to add to the Knights lead. The Knights held the Wildcats scoreless as they went on to win 7-0

Notable Performances

Madison Cosgrove, Mel Bullock, and Cassidy Ross each had two hits in the game with Briana Murray drawing four walks. Riley Haley pitched the complete game shutout, allowing only five hits while striking out two batters.

Game Two

The Knights started off the second game of the day with an RBI single from Briana Murray in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats answered back in the bottom half fo the inning with four runs and another run in the fifth inning as they grabbed a 5-1 lead. The Knights had to work their way back into the game as they scored two runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Madison Cosgrove and an RBI double from Murray. The Knights cut the lead down to one run with an RBI single in the fourth inning from Caroline Albritton but the Wildcats scored a run in the bottom half of the inning to take a 6-4 lead. A solo home run from Murray in the fifth inning got the Knights back to within one run and they used RBI singles from Avery Lucceshi and Cassidy Ross in the seventh inning to take the lead. The Knights shut down the Wildcats in the bottom half fo the inning to complete the come back and win the game 7-6.

Notable Performances

Briana Murray went 3-for-3 at the plate, coming a triple away from hitting for the cycle, as Mel Bullock and Caroline Albritton added two hits.

What's Up Next

The Knights return home on Friday, April 3rd as they welcome the Pacers of USC-Aiken to town for a three game conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
