Softball Drops Last Two Home Games to Nighthawks

COCHRAN, Ga. - The Knights were back on the field on Sunday, April 26th as they closed out the home schedule with a doubleheader with the Nighthawks of North Georgia. The Knights lost the first game of the series on Saturday and were looking for a better outcome as they celebrated Senior Day as well.

Game One

The Nighthawks jumped out in front in the second inning with two runs and scored another run in the third inning to hold a 3-0 lead. The Knights got one run back in the bottom half of the third inning with an RBI single by Kaylee Oliver to cut the lead to 3-1. The two pitchers controlled the game until the seventh inning when the Nighthawks pulled further ahead with five runs to hand the Knights the 8-1 loss.

The Nighthawks went ahead in the first inning but the Knights answered back in the bottom half of the inning as they got a two-run home run from Kaylee Oliver. The lead would not hold as the Nighthawks scored three runs in the second and third innings and seven runs in the fourth inning. The Knights fought back in the fifth inning as they scored a run on a sacrifice fly from Nayeli Hernandez but they were unable to score enough runs to avoid the mercy rule as they lost 14-3.

What's Up Next

The Knights will hit the road for the final weekend of the regular season as they head to Milledgeville, Georgia to take on the Bobcats of Georgia College on Friday, May 1st. First pitch is scheduled for 6 PM EST.
