MACON, Ga.- Middle Georgia State University has announced that head women's cross country and track coach John Green has resigned his position for personal reasons.
Green led the MGA women's cross country program for the past year as the first full-time head coach as the institution has plans to also add a women's track program. His responsibilities also included management of the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course on the Macon campus as one of the most sought-after cross country venues in the region.
"I want to thank John for his efforts and leadership of our women's cross country program over the last year," said Director of Athletics,
Michael Brown. "I'm saddened to see him step away from the program he and our outstanding student-athletes were building but I wish him well in the next part of his journey. We look forward to building on that momentum as we seek out the next leader of these programs."
MGA men's and women's tennis head coach,
Tom Bates will serve as the interim head coach while a national search begins immediately for the next head coach of the women's cross country and track program. Coach Bates most recently served the program in a similar capacity for the '24 cross country campaign.
The Knights cross country '26 season schedule is set to be released next week.
