SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Knights were on the pitch for the first time this season on Friday, August 28th as they headed to Saint Petersburg, Florida to take on the Tritons of Eckerd College. The two teams played last season and ended in a 0-0 draw as the Knights looked to start the season off on the right track.
The first half saw the Knights take the first shot in the 17th minute but the Tritons made the save and kept the game scoreless. The Tritons first shot of the match came in the 34th minute and found the back of the net as they grabbed the lead. The Tritons only had one more shot in the first half that sailed high as defense was the main story of the first half. The Knights opened the second half with the first shot as
Javier Gongora Andres tied the game at 1-1 less then a minute into the half. The lead only lasted eight minutes as the Tritons got the lead back but the Knights started to control the match as they started to fire off shots. A red card in the 60th minute put the Knights down a man but it would not hinder their attack as they tied the match in the 72nd minute with
Zaki Goes scoring to tie the match at 2-2. Another red card in the 84th minute put the Knights down another man and the Tritons capitalized as they scored the winning goal in the 87th minute to hand the Knights a 3-2 loss.
The loss moves the Knights to 0-1 on the season as they get set to play again on Sunday, August 30th when they travel to Lakeland, Florida to take on the Moccasins of Florida Southern College. Kick off is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
