LAKELAND, Fla. - The Knights were on the pitch again on Sunday, August 30th as they finished up their road trip with a match in Lakeland, Florida against the Mocs of Florida Southern College. The Knights were coming off of a close loss while the Mocs were coming off of a shutout win over Barton College.
The Knights showed promise as they got off their first shot within the first minute of the match but it would miss high and left. The Mocs started to control the game at that point as they scored their first goal in the tenth minute to put the Knights behind 1-0. The Knights fired off another shot that was saved by the Mocs goalkeeper and the Mocs attacked to score the second goal of the match in the 22nd minute to take a 2-0 lead. The Knights found ways throughout the rest of the first half to create some offense but none of their shots were on target as the Knights trailed 2-0 at halftime. The Mocs extended their lead in the 47th minute and the match turned into a defensive standoff as both teams were only able to get two shots in the second half. The Knights were unable to convert either of their shots as they lost the match 3-0.
The loss moves the Knights to 0-2 on the season as they will return home to open their home schedule on Friday, September 3rd against the University of West Alabama. That match is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM EST.
